Kristoffer Tølbøll

Senior full-stack software engineer in Copenhagen. I build the backends for systems that run on data from physical equipment, from charge points to energy meters, and have to stay up.

Portrait of Kristoffer Tølbøll

Seven years of building software, most of it backend in TypeScript and Node. Right now that is charging infrastructure at Spirii.

The job is usually the same underneath. Equipment sends numbers, the numbers are messier than anyone expects, and someone at the far end has to make a decision from them. Across the charging and metering work that is data from somewhere around fifteen million active endpoints.

In my own company we built CTR, which SAV Systems runs its internal operation on: employee management, warehouse status, and every step from receiving material to a device going in at a customer. When it broke, the warehouse knew before I did.

Outside work I train and run, see friends and family, and keep a few side projects going.

Short feedback loops and honest estimates. I would rather say three weeks and mean it than say two and take four. I also want to run what I build.

Backends in TypeScript and Node, usually NestJS, and the database underneath. Taking a domain that has grown messy and getting it into a shape the team can work in, then keeping it quick once the tables are large and the writes do not stop.

HackYourFuture Copenhagen since 2018, and guest lectures at CphBusiness. Fifty-odd lessons in, mostly for people who had never written a line of code before they walked in.

The ones I reach for first. The list moves around depending on the job.

Teaching, Career, Speaking

I teach software development at HackYourFuture Copenhagen.

More than fifty lessons since 2018, for people who started with no coding experience at all. Most of them are working as developers now.

Write me what you are working on, and I will tell you whether I can help and what it would take.
